Google has just released a new webmaster tool, which is designed to test whether a site is mobile friendly or not.
This mobile-friendly test will be an aid for those seeking to gain Google’s mobile-friendly tags for their site. Sites that are optimized for mobile receive a ranking boost as well as a “mobile-friendly” tag in mobile search results.
The googlebot will grade if your site is mobile friendly or not under the following criteria:
- Avoids software that is not common on mobile devices, like Flash
- Uses text that is readable without zooming
- Sizes content to the screen so users don’t have to scroll horizontally or zoom
- Places links far enough apart so that the correct one can be easily tapped
This tool is an ease to use. All that is needed is the website’s URL to have it analyzed. Currently there seems to be only two grades for a site
- Awesome! This page is mobile-friendly.
- Not mobile-friendly

This tool also gives you some feedback on which resources were blocked by robots.txt and Google resources to help you understand why your site passed or how you can optimize your site to pass.
